Developing & Revising Tribal Court Law & Order Codes

Course Description

A unique and innovative seminar for all Indian tribes, designed to enhance and strengthen Indian sovereignty. All tribes today must depend upon their own judicial branch of government to protect and enforce tribal law and order, including non indian contractual relations with tribal gaming operations. This seminar will take you through the steps of developing a Tribal Court System. Tribal law enforcement is essential to the protection of tribal members – their property and general welfare of their members. However, each tribe that steps into the arena of law enforcement , must have adequate Law & Order Code by which to base their jurisdiction, both subject matter and personal. This course is designed to train tribal law enforcement officers to implement and understand the important aspects of their own law & order Codes, as well as P.L 280 & those jurisdictional parameters. This course is the only one today that deals with specifically with P.L. 280 state tribal entities, their sovereignty and their unique ability to begin to build upon a strong sovereign base for their next generations.
